Scott's Thoughts #7: Some Big News and how it might change how I post some things.

Hello everyone!  I have some news that I am excited to be able to share at this point.  I have been invited to be a contributing author on the massively popular prog site DPRP.net.   Of course I accepted their invitation, but only after some email conversations with Jerry van Kooten, the site founder who reached out to me to extend the invitation.   For those who are unfamiliar with the site, it was founded in 1995 as the Dutch Progressive Rock Page.  Intitially the intention was that it would focus on the prog rock scene in the Netherlands, but before long, became a site about all prog rock music.   On average, the site gets over 1,000,000 views a year and between 15,000-20,000 visitors a month.  I am honored that Jerry invited me to share my writing with so many people.  The invitation came after he saw my recent spotlight on Änglagård.

As for what this means for this blog, it will mean a few changes.  Any article that is published on their site will initially be available only on the site, although I will still retain ownership of my writing.  After it has been on DPRP for 2 months, I am free to re-post it here and other places.  What I CAN do, however, is post a link to the article on DPRP on here and announce it on Facebook.  I am still free to write articles and reviews that are not intended for DPRP as I have been doing all along.   The result of all of this is that my articles may be a bit more sporadic compared to what they have been before. To begin with, I have submitted my newest Scott's Spotlight and I will announce who it is about once I hear back about when it is to be published there. For full disclosure, I am not given any monetary compensation for any articles that are published there.  Much like my association with Bad Dog Promotions,  and when I review albums submitted directly to me,  I will receive digital music files, sometimes in advance of an album's release so that I can write reviews.

IN OTHER UNRELATED NEWS:  I am working out details for doing some video interviews with a couple of well-known prog artists who have been putting out music for the past few decades.  I will share more as I am able.  You may recall that I interviewed Lucas Planque of PrYzme last summer.

I would have never guessed that in less than 2 and a half years after beginning the "100 Greatest Prog Album Challenge" on Facebook in September 2023 that it would lead to so many opportunities!  I thank everyone who has supported me on my journey.; you are much appreciated,
